Upcoming Information

Here are important announcements for this week.

Tuesday: Dress Rehearsal for Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Percussion performing with those groups from 4:00-6:00.

Thursday Morning: Orchestra Area Festival will take place at Catalina Foothills Thursday morning. This is an important change that became necessary to accommodate schedule conflicts for students. Orchestra students should arrive at the SHS Band Room by 6:50A. The bus will depart promptly at 7:00A, and we will return to SHS around noon. Dress is concert black. Please remember that concert black includes dress shoes (closed-toe), tops with sleeves (nothing sleeveless) and tights, leggings, or hose underneath dresses or skirts that are not full length. Please bring money for a lunch stop on the way back.

Thursday Afternoon: After lunch on Thursday, band and percussion will head to the auditorium to sound check for our concert Thursday evening.

Thursday 5:30: Call time for all band, orchestra, and percussion students at the auditorium. The concert will begin at 6:00.

Friday: Band travels to Catalina Foothills for Area Festival. Because of the schedule change with orchestra, I need to confirm a few details for Friday with transportation tomorrow afternoon. Once I have done that, I will send out specifics about starting a music festival, Band Festival, on Friday. We should be departing from and returning to SHS within the school day, however.

Saturday: Jazz in the Desert in the Diamond Center at Desert Diamond Casino. Students are responsible for their own transportation, and all jazz band students should arrive to the casino by 4:30P. Our performance time is 5:40, and we’ll be performing for about 20 minutes. Students will be dismissed around 6:00.
