Dear Parents,
Week two is almost over. Our pace is slow right now as we have focused on classroom and school procedures but I promise we will pick up the speed soon. Please help your child get into a regular practice schedule with their instrument. I do not expect students to practice on the days we are here on campus for rehearsals but I do expect they work independently at home 3-4 times a week. This is really important if they did not have an in person band class last year.
Curriculum and needs: Please make sure your child has the following things ASAP.
1. Warm-up book (we use the same all four years) Foundations for Superior Performance warm-up and technique for band by Monday, August 16
2. If you have not paid for marching shoes, gloves, blue t-shirt in the SHS front office do so now! I will be handing out shoes soon. shoes ($40), shirt($12) and gloves($5)
3. Pay band fee to the boosters, this covers meals, enrichment instruction and some competition cost. https://www.sahuaritamusic.org/category/fees/
4. 1 inch Three ring black binder for class, flip folder and lyre for pep music
Week at a Glance
Friday, Aug 13 Rehearsal 3:45-5 music, 5-6 dinner break (bring food or make plans to pick something up$$$), 6-9 on football field – theme for student dress up = PItch Black, our show! all black or black and green
Monday, Aug. 16 Rehearsal 5:45-8:15, students may stay after to be on time, please pick them up no later than 8:30 by the band room
Friday, Aug. 20 Rehearsal – same schedule after school, student tailgate at 5pm (parents needed from 3:30-6pm for cooking) students will need blue jeans and blue band shirt for this event!
Our friends and family show will take place on Friday, August 20th TBA, at 7:15pm. Please invite friends and family to the Sahuarita High School Football field for this 25-30 presentation of our show. Our rehearsal will end at that time. Students should be ready to go home by 8pm.
Parent meeting Monday, August 30th 6pm in the band room, save the date!
