Dear Parents,
Happy New Year, welcome to 3rd quarter. Each year I work toward things to improve our classroom and my teaching skills. This year we are going to move forward with google classroom for band (not percussion yet). Each week this month students will have an assignment to play scales at set tempo and turn them in by way of google classroom. Please let me know if you have any questions. This will be a great time saver to our classroom instructional time.
We have been approved for 21st Century Music assistance. We will be offering music sectionals for wind players with Ryan Blake on Tuesday’s, and string sectionals with Mark Ferguson on Wednesday’s. This is a huge opportunity for our program to continue to grow. We might expand this opportunity to more days of the week if the program is able to support this endeavor.
January at a Glance:
January 20th – NO School – Music Booster Meeting 6pm E 105 bandroom (future travel planning, fundraising, general meeting)
January 21st – SUSD Symphony Rehearsal 5:30 (at WaldenGrove) if your child made the ensemble
January 24th – band council fun night – Movies of Danny Elfman 5pm-9pm $2 or sign up to bring a snack; pizza and popcorn provided
January 25th – Regional Auditions at the U of A (27 students)
January 27th – SUSd Symphony Rehearsal 5:30 (at SHS) if you child made the ensemble
Needs:
I need two parents to help chaperone the movie night on Jan. 24th, please let me know if you are available. We will be watching The Amazing Spiderman and Beetlejuice, two fun classics!
