Dear Parents,

I hope this email finds you well and the information I provide is helpful. We are in distance learning with regular meetings during the school day. Students should log in biweekly, have their instrument and music out and be ready to play! In addition to the biweekly meetings they should work on their own 2-3 days a week for 25-30 minutes on the music posted in their google classroom as a practice log. On some of the sections of music warm-ups I have added an audio recording of how things sound to help them if they forget. We will continue to use Sight Reading Factory (SRF) as a weekly Wednesday assignment.

Third quarter is a busy time for concert bands, jazz bands and orchestras with Concert Festivals! This year the festivals will be virtual, we will NOT have to leave town to participate in these events. I will send more information as we get closer to March. With that being said, we will resume our evening rehearsal at the end of this month in Phase I, just as we did in October for our marching band. These rehearsals will be in small groups, outside, with masks required and temperature checks. Some good points to be made with our groups is that we can set up with social distancing in mind and we have the PPE provided by the district not to mention NOone needs to share equipment. I plan to resume rehearsal Monday’s, for band classes, Tuesday’s for Orchestra and Thursday’s for Jazz. Please keep those afternoons free from other commitments for your child.
