Good Morning Parents and Students,

Let me first say again, THANK YOU to all the parents, volunteers, and students who showed up to our Band Camp Showcase on Friday night and who helped make camp a success. I also want to remind everyone of our meal sponsors for camp: Chick-fil-A, Raisin’ Cane’s, Eegee’s, Texas Roadhouse, and Firehouse Subs. If you visit any of those establishments over the next few weeks make sure to thank them for their support!

Here are your reminders for this week:

1) Parents and Students: Our email fundraiser is off to a great start! We aren’t even a week in and we’ve already passed the $10,000 threshold! Our goal for this year is to match last year’s amount  of $16,000. We have two weeks remaining to cross that amount. This will only be possible if every family participates in the fundraiser to the best of their ability, however. Currently, only about 75% of the group has participated, and if we can get our remaining families to spread the word, we could easily hit and exceed our goal.

With that in mind, I’m attaching the instructions to join the fundraiser for any students who have not done so already to this email. Please try to do this TODAY, as the next round of emails will go out tomorrow.

Parents: please check that your student has good emails in the system. There are several students with accounts, but no emails attached. Encourage them to text the link to family members, friends, neighbors, etc. who have not donated yet. Share the fundraiser on social media…this would be a HUGE help! Lastly, I’ve attached the QR code link to the fundraiser to this email as well. Feel free to share it with coworkers or others (the donations can still be attributed to your kiddo through the QR code), and don’t forget about the option for businesses to do corporate sponsorships!

2) Students: Don’t forget that we have rehearsal tomorrow! Percussionists should be here at 2:30 to get set up to play as people walk in for the Freshman Orientation. After we finish, freshman percussionists will be able to attend the orientation.

Wind players and guard students should arrive at 4:45 to play the Fight Song at the conclusion of the Freshman Orientation. Freshman who wish to attend the orientation may do so, but should arrive a little prior to orientation to pick up instruments and move them to the gym before orientation begins. This will allow them to be prepped to play with us at the end of the orientation.

Once orientation is over, rehearsal goes until 8:30. As a reminder, part of tomorrow’s rehearsal is working with WGHS for the Welcome Back Assembly.

3) Wednesday is the district Welcome Back Assembly! The band room will open at 7:00A, but students should arrive no later than 7:45A. Students should report to the band room to pick up uniforms, and we will change at the SMS Gym, where we will also rehearse again with WGHS.

Returning students, bring your marching shoes, and if you have extras at home, bring those as well for someone who might need to borrow a pair. New members, wear either black dress shoes or solid black tennis shoes if you are able. We will have marching shoes available for some to borrow, but we are limited in the quantity and sizes. We just need to get through this one day, as our new shoes will be arriving soon.

Also, bring a flip folder and lyre if you are able. We are not able to use music stands for the Welcome Back Assembly. Band parents, if your student doesn’t own a flip folder or lyre for their instrument, please make sure to pick one up in the next couple of weeks. They must have these items for the first football game.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, and have a great week everyone!
