Dear Parents,

SHS Marching Mustang Band Camp begins Monday, July 19 at 8am. Please remind your child to arrive 10-15 minutes to allow time to travel to the football field. They should have comfortable clothes on for movement, tennis shoes that tie, sunscreen, and WATER! I strongly suggest they wear a hat, it really helps. Students should bring their lunch from home, dinner is provided.
Each day we have a theme, students should wear a shirt, or shorts to support the spirit of the theme. This will give their section points toward winning the section award at the end of the week!
Monday – White, Tuesday – Blue, Wednesday – Gold, Thursday – Section Theme, Friday – Beach day
Our general schedule each day looks as follows:
8-10 – football field
10-11:30 – gym with instruments
11:30-12:30 – lunch (bring from home)
12:30-2:20 – Music indoors including sectionals with music specific specialist
2:30-3:30 – Activity in the cafeteria/gym
3:30-5:00 – large group music progress
5-6pm Dinner
6:20 – 8:45 – football field
9pm students should be picked up behind the bandroom, please do not be late
Even if it rains we will NOT cancel rehearsal. We have alternate options for indoor rehearsals if the weather does not permit us to be outside.
Students should have necessary supplies to play their instrument every day: the instrument, reeds, vavle oil, flip folder, lyre, sticks, flag/tape
SAVE the DATE: Friday, July 23 7:00pm we will present our fall production Pitch Black on the SHS football field. This will be slighty different then it has been in the past. We will not host a family cookout and potluck this year but we hope that we will be able to continue this tradition in the future. Please tell your friends and family to attend this 30 minute outdoor event, you won’t want to miss the performance and awards from the students hard work. If your child has not purchased their blue band shirt yet please have them bring $12 to school ASAP (cash, check or card) they can pay for the shirt in the front office and receive the shirt same day! We will wear the shirts for the performance.
