This email is geared towards the students, but parents and staff are copied on the email so everyone is in the know.

I am extremely excited that everyone is so eager to learn their new instruments and have a successful season, but I need to clarify a few procedures.

Sahuarita Indoor Percussion is a strictly extracurricular activity. This means that all practice and sectionals will occur outside of the school day. The music that we are studying in class, whether its band, percussion ensemble, orchestra, or choir, will take precedence over indoor percussion. You aren’t allowed to skip a math or english assignment to practice for indoor, so you can’t skip practicing your primary instrument either!

We have a very extensive rehearsal calendar so we have time to practice together! It is your responsibility as a young adult to manage your time wisely.

Also, we will NEVER schedule an indoor sectional during MPH – EVER!
MPH is designed to help you with classwork (including band). Also, I am the only person that will schedule a sectional. If staff or section leaders want to schedule a sectional outside of our rehearsal times, please let me know so I can confirm that it doesn’t interfere with any other music activity.

This email is to clarify the process because we have so many new people to the group. The bottom line is, indoor percussion is designed to enrich and support our core instrumental music programs (stated in the handbook).

If any further clarification is needed, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
