8:00a-8:00p – Rehearsal & Floor Painting

Floor Painting
During the floor painting days, we will also be rehearsing while paint dries. These days are mandatory as we still have a lot of show to learn. I understand that there is a conflict with the Regional Prep at GCU; please let me know so I can plan on your absence for part of that day. Please bring brooms and mops, as we will need to thoroughly clean the floor before painting. These will be sent back home with the students at the end of the day on Monday. A huge thank you to Mrs. Perry, who will be again helping us design and paint our floor this year. She has done some amazing work for us in the past (Nintendo, DeComposers, Spark, Wanted, and all of SUSD Guard’s floors). It is important that your child wears clothes that they can get paint on. Flip flops are also advised (in addition to athletic shoes for marching).

Props
With our show design, we are going bigger than ever this year. We have 20 trees that need to be built, but I need parent help. Please reach out to me if you would like to help. While the quantity is a lot, the trees will be pretty simple and should only take a day or two. We also have 30 flowers that the art department is helping us with, and our “river” which will require a lot of sewing (60ft of fabric). If you can help, please send me an email directly.

Trailer Build-out
With the huge growth of our ensemble, we have also run into a problem that our brand new trailer can’t hold all of our equipment… yet. We need to build an additional shelf to accommodate the 2 extra mallet instruments we will be traveling with to all of our shows. Please let me know if you can assist with this, as we need it completed in the next few weeks (our first travel day is February 8)!

Dues
If you have not made the final $125 payment via tax credit or boosters (check or online), please do so ASAP. A large part of our production relies on booster support, and your contribution helps offset some of those costs. If you need to setup a payment arrangement, please reach out to me directly. Simply not paying fees without communication makes it unfair for the people who have paid. That said, I am very flexible and will do whatever I can to help.

Show Shirts
Our show shirts are currently being designed with the vendor, and I would like to offer the show-shirts to all of the parents as well. It is a great way to show your support for our ensemble, especially when we’re attending competitions! The students’ shirts are included with their fees, but if you would like to order any additional shirts, an order form will be sent home with the students on Monday. Please turn those forms in by Wednesday, January 15th.

Volunteers
As our competition season draws near, we will need several volunteers for each competition. Duties include, chaperones, truck drivers, snacks for the road, people to push equipment in and out of the performance facility (we have A LOT), and a really loud cheering section for our shows. Below is our list of shows (signup genius coming soon).

Saturday, February 8 – WGAZ Ironwood Ridge HS
Friday, February 21 – WGAZ Sahuarita HS (ALL HANDS ON DECK)
Saturday, March 7 – WGI Eastmark HS
Saturday, March 14 – WGAZ Percussion Focus Desert Ridge HS
Saturday, March 21 – WGAZ Campo Verde HS
Saturday, April 4 – WGAZ State Championships Desert Financial Arena

As you can tell from this email, we rely heavily on parent support. This year is going to be a HUGE year for Sahuarita Indoor Percussion and we have set some ambitious goals for our group. Please help me, our amazing staff, and most of all the students, succeed as we make this an experience we will all remember for years to come.

Thank you so much, and please reach out to me directly if you have any questions.
